SONOROUS is a Soul-Infused Psychedelic Blues Rock trio from Taupō, New Zealand, known for their powerful live performances, heartfelt songwriting and distinctive blend of rock, soul, blues and psychedelic influences.
Since forming in 2021, the band has built a reputation for delivering high-energy shows and music that combines raw emotion, memorable melodies and dynamic musicianship. Fronted by guitarist and vocalist Lucian McDermott, recognised by Blues Festival Guide USA as one of the world's top eight up-and-coming blues guitarists, SONOROUS brings a fresh perspective to modern rock while drawing inspiration from soul, blues and classic rock traditions.
Alongside bassist Khani Te Mete and drummer Cooper Paalvast, the trio has performed throughout New Zealand and Australia, sharing stages with acclaimed artists including Simple Minds, Collective Soul, Texas, Pseudo Echo, Grant Haua, Laughton Kora and Black Comet. Their performances have taken them to major festivals and events across New Zealand and Australia, helping build a loyal and growing audience.
Following the release of their single State of a Nation in May 2026, SONOROUS continues to build momentum with a string of new releases leading toward their debut EP, ‘Observations’ in November 2026. The band recently partnered with Big Pop Music through a distribution deal as they continue expanding their reach and connecting with audiences at home and abroad.
Driven by authenticity, passion and a commitment to creating music that resonates, SONOROUS combines soaring vocals, expressive guitar work and powerful rhythms to create a sound that is both contemporary and timeless.
